This half-day course looks at benefit rights for people starting a family and families with young children, both in and out of work.

It covers:

Financial help available around pregnancy, birth or adoption, including maternity and paternity pay, child benefit, tax credits and universal credit
Tactics for maximising income at family circumstances change
Help with childcare costs
Better-off calculations when considering a return to work or change in hours
